The Mastermind Behind The Curtain (COVID-19)
During this time of uncertainty and the fear of COVID-19, caution has been increased in every aspect. From the washing of hands, the raid on the grocery stores, the closing of schools, to the physical gathering of people everywhere. While taking caution is needed, I’m wondering if we are taking the necessary precautions for our spiritual health?
Studies show that once a person misses one Sunday, and then another, they soon find themselves engaged in other activities to where missing church becomes the norm. Many people have said it’s easier to miss church services than it is to attend them. Why? What better way to cause a gap between man and God than to disrupt the order of fellowshipping together, especially when fear is the main ingredient? The Amplified version of Hebrews 10:25 says “not forsaking our meeting together [as believers for worship and instruction], as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more [faithfully] as you see the day [of Christ’s return] approaching.” Wouldn’t you agree that these are the last days and Christ is coming back very soon?
God has called us for such a time as this. A time where the unknown ignites a fear so destructive that people become unrecognizable. We need to open our eyes to the mastermind behind the curtain. Be vigilant of what’s going on around you. Not the things seen, but the unseen things are what’s important. Ephesians 6:12 tells us that we wrestle not against flesh and blood (the seen things), but against principalities, powers, and spiritual wickedness in high places (the unseen things). Now is the time to stand. Now is the time to examine ourselves. Now is the time to fix our eyes, our hearts, and our minds on God and having done all to STAND.

People Pleaser
Saul did a similar thing in the Bible, where Samuel was very direct with him, telling him the directions sent forth from God. However, Saul wanted to please the people instead of obeying God, which was the beginning of the end for King Saul. Bad decisions and disobedience cost him his kingship, his sanity, his peace, his relationship with God, and ultimately, his life.
